Career Launch sd

Ms. Gerving is a career advisors for the Lead-Deadwood School District. The new program, Career Launch, has been established under the leadership of Governor Dennis Daugaard through Department of Labor and Regulation (DLR) and Department of Education (DOE).

Career Launch will provide career exploration services to high school students, as well as opportunities to gain workplace experiences for high school students. Career Launch partnered with four pilot school districts in Spring 2018 (Brookings, Yankton, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls) and is expanding to even more in Fall 2018.

The goal of Career Launch is to help increase student awareness about career opportunities right here in South Dakota so students can make an educated decision about their future. The career advisors also act as a liaison between businesses and students to work towards creating a skilled workforce. They connect students with meaningful work experiences such as job shadows, industry presentations, and industry tours while also providing businesses an opportunity to invest in youth. Lead-Deadwood career advisor, Ms. Gerving, hopes to show students multiple pathways to success exist.

Ms. Gerving will be located in Room 400 in the High School. Please feel free to reach out to her with your questions and/or career needs. She looks forward to meeting you!
