There are many opportunities that counselor Mrs. Rhonda Britzman is planning for students, especially for seniors. There will be a speaker who is coming to talk about the Build Dakota Scholarship on Nov 2. Also, the same day the ASVAB-Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Test will be given. Then, that evening a virtual financial aid for parents of seniors will be available.

Seniors who plan to go to college in South Dakota should begin applying now because it is free! Taking the ACT is important if you are applying for Scholarships. Britzman also stated, “It’s time for seniors to start thinking about their next steps after graduation, and each student will have a different plan. They can start making the decision to reach their goal now.”

Britzman additionally added, “Many students are taking dual credit college or technical school courses to fill their schedules and start earning credits for college.”

Nov. 2 there will also be a representative from BHSU  here to talk to seniors.

Britzman said, “There is a lot going on for students in the next several months.”

The LDHS staff is also planning a special lunch for seniors on Dec. 1. She also stated, “There are several planning on graduating early this year and they will be back for the ceremony in May.”

All seniors took the National Career Readiness Exam in September and the results will be mailed to them.

Over the next few months, there are many things that students can get involved in to obtain more information. College and scholarships are import items especially for seniors to start preparing to apply so they are ready for next year. Students should beware of the opportunities that come before them and act on them. Britzman is in her office to answer questions.
