The 12 students were greeted by Alyssa Wagner the new owner of Eagle Aviation.   She immediately invited us in to see the mechanic shop.   They had 4 mechanics working on 3 small planes.  The students greeted the first mechanic, a former aviation teacher, and asked questions about annual maintenance and mechanical needs. After meeting the next mechanic and discussing wing design of dihedral angle and air foil to create lift the students headed outside.   Two other employees joined Alyssa, and the students climbed in 3 different planes.  These planes are used for tours and pilot license training. The students pulled the yokes to see the elevators move, then turn (roll) for ailerons, and use foot pedals to control the rudders.  The tours and licensing can all be done with Eagle aviation.   They allow each pilot student learning to fly a discovery flight for an opportunity to make sure it is something you want to pursue.  Alyssa explained to get pilot license you need a minimum of 40hrs flight time, a written exam, and flight test.  The students then went into the office lounge area and ate pizza (donated by Rob).   The students then were allowed to tour vintage plane hangers with planes made out of Canvas.  Yes canvas like your bed sheets.   The student could even touch and feel the stretched canvas wings.  The students then walked to the runway and looked at a recent crashed jet.   The jet missed the runway on bad conditions and broke the front wheel causing a crash.   The crew was ok and the plane has some wing and landing gear damage ($5m).  Alyssa then took the students to the new hanger with private turbo twin prop.   Eagle is adding 2 new buildings with a new airport office.   The students had a great experience, and we hope to tour next year.   We thank Eagle Aviation and Alyssa!
