Join us on May 5th at 7:00 PM in the Lead-Deadwood High School Auditorium for our Annual Spring Concert, themed "Who We Are." This exciting performance will showcase the incredible talent of our students, featuring pieces like Incandescence, The Country Club Stomp!, and Kalos Eidos, along with solos by talented musicians like Journey Myrup (Flute), Carl Williams (Trumpet), and Atty Eastman (Alto Saxophone).
We’ll also be honoring our seniors and special award recipients for their dedication and hard work. Come celebrate our amazing band program, and enjoy a night filled with music, fun, and recognition!

Great opportunity for new welder from deadwood Alexandria. With in 3 months of learning to weld she is competing in Skills USA. She designed and built an 18 in all metal sculpture for competition (pictured). Congratulations Alex.
Also competing this year are Landen, Ethan, and Chris. They are a 3 man team in welding fabrication. Good luck today boys. Delaney is representing the state accountant for Skills USA.

Reminder: All 11th grade students will be starting their mandatory state assessments (Smarter Balance Testing) tomorrow from 8:30-10:15. Please make sure your student has their laptop charged and ready to go. All freshman, sophomore, and senior students will attend class as normal during the upcoming testing times on April 3rd, 7th, 9th, 10th, and 16th. On Monday, April 7th at 6pm the LDHS Theater Department is presenting their Spring Performance of 25 Plays in 60 Minutes! There will also be performances on Wednesday, April 9th at 2:20pm. Admission is $5 for Adults and $3 for Students.

The Walter and Francis Green Charitable Trust is taking grant applications to provide funding for classroom instruction and community activities that will benefit the children and citizens in the Lead-Deadwood School District. Non-school district organizations and non-profits must have 501 c 3 status to apply.
The grants will be awarded based upon the criteria provided on the application. Grant applications may be requested from Dr. Erik Person, Superintendent or Mary Schumacher, Administrative Assistant, 320 S. Main St. Lead, SD 57754 or at 605-717-3711. Completed applications should be returned to Mary Schumacher at the above address or by email to: mary.schumacher@k12.sd.us. The deadline to apply is April 4, 2025.

Kindergarten screening will be Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Lead-Deadwood Elementary School. Parents need to come into the Elementary School March 3-19 and register their children for Kindergarten before a screening appointment can be made. Information needed at registration includes a certified birth certificate and immunization records for your child. These two pieces of information must be on file at school before entrance will be allowed.
Those students whose immunization records are not complete are eligible for registration, but immunizations must be completed and records in the school office before the first day of school for your child to begin.
Please allow one hour for the screening.

The LDHS All Sports Banquet will be Tuesday, May 20th @ 6pm in Gym 1.
The LDHS Dance Team will be hosting a Power Play camp for elementary students grades K-2. Students must be pre-registered to attend.

Congratulations to Mike Loeffen, Lead-Deadwood School District's Employee of the Year. Mike works in the maintenance department, is the district's mechanic and keeps things running for our district.

The Middle School Boys Basketball game on Friday, February 14th will be one game only. Belle Fourche A vs Lead-Deadwood A at 4:00 p.m. in gym #2.
The girls basketball team will leave the high school for their game in Dupree at 1:15 p.m., arriving in Dupree at approximately 4:00 p.m. The JV team will play at 5:00 p.m. with the varsity team playing at 6:30 p.m.
