The South Dakota Services for the Deaf (SDSD) and Lions Club will conduct free hearing and vision screenings at our school, for grades K, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 11th.
Hearing screenings: October 2nd and 3rd
Vision screenings: October 10th
You will only be notified if your child does not pass the screening.

Gym 2 will be open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7am for basketball open gym.
Haggerty’s Music will be in the LDHS Band Room on Wednesday, September 17th from 3:30pm-5:30pm to set up an instrument display! This is a fantastic opportunity for students and parents to rent or purchase new or used instruments.
They will also have essential supplies available for both middle school and high school students, including:

Tuners

Cross-country has started, but it's not too late to start if you are interested. If you are a high school or middle school student at Lead-Deadwood interested in cross-country, but you missed the first week of practice, contact Dr. Person or just show up at Gym 1 in the high school after school. Go Diggers!
The volleyball game against Newell on August 26th will start at 5:30 pm. This is a change from the original start time of 5:00. C-team will start at 5:30 with JV & Varsity to follow.
LDHS Open House will be 4:00-6:00 pm on Monday, August 18th. Mr. Embrock will provide a "Welcome Back" message in the Auditorium at 5:00 pm for all HS students & families. 9th Grade/New Student Orientation will begin in the Auditorium at 5:30 pm. Students may pick up their class schedules and other important information to begin the school year in the HS Office upon arriving at the school. Laptops may also be issued during Open House. Teachers will be available for visits in their classroom. We look forward to seeing you at Open House!

Next week the school is cutting power on Monday morning. Because of this, the weight room days will be moved to Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Times will remain the same and all open gyms will be in Gym 2 next week.
