Ms. Elizabeth Frith presented this week’s Lead-Deadwood Elementary Shining Light to Ms. Dana Schubauer. “Dana Schubauer is a shining light in our school. Every morning she comes into the cafeteria and writes down our breakfast and lunch menus in a fun & creative way. She then draws a challenging word puzzle on the white board. She may not know this, but many people visit the lunchroom throughout the day specifically to see her new puzzle and try to figure it out. Ms. Schubauer can be found each morning in the lunchroom greeting students as they enter the building to begin their day. She has stepped in and helped me with many different tasks this school year. Ms. Schubauer shows all students love everyday with her common sense approach and fantastic sense of humor.” Congratulations, Ms. Schubauer!

Last week, Miss Brenda Cupp presented the Lead-Deadwood Elementary Shining Light to Miss Elizabeth Frith. “Miss Frith has created a wonderful lunchroom environment for both the students and staff. The lunches are absolutely amazing! If you haven’t tried a school lunch this year, I highly recommend that you do. I want to thank Miss Frith for her hard work and dedication to the wellbeing of our kids’ nutrition, as well as introducing them to new foods that they may have never even heard of.” Congratulations, Miss Frith!

HSVB on Thursday will be played in this order at Sturgis 5:00 - JV will play first 6:00 - C team 7:00 - Varsity

The region XC meet scheduled for Thursday this week has been moved to Wednesday due to the forecasted weather. It will start at 10:00 at Hart Ranch. Good luck Diggers! Mr. Nepodal

First off - my apologies for another message, text and email but due to transportation issues from Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central, we will have to move our homecoming football game to 5:30. This will still allow all students and groups to participate in our homecoming festivities in the afternoon and gives time for our football team, cheerleaders, and all game personnel to be ready to go for the game as well. Again - sorry for the changes - we are doing our best to make this work for everyone on our end as well as our visitors. Mr. Nepodal

Due to a conflict in times with homecoming festivities - our home football game for Friday, Oct. 6 (tomorrow night) has been changed to a 6:00 start time. It was originally planned for 5:00 but the two schools/team involved have agreed to move it back to 6:00 to help us out with homecoming. Please pass the word as much as you can. Thank you. The HSVB game for next Tuesday, Oct. 10 will start at 6:00 - there is no C team being played that night - only JV and Varsity games. Thank you. Mr. Nepodal

For today's MS volleyball game at Newcastle, we will have the following schedule: 4:30 - Maroon team will play 1st 5:30 - White team will play 2nd 6:30 - Gold team will play 3rd Good luck Diggers! Mr. Nepodal

Power is back on at Lead-Deadwood High School, and classes will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, October 3rd, at the regular time. Middle school exploratory classes will be held in their regular locations.

Please note that our HSFB for Friday, October 13 at Lakota tech will be start at 2:00. This is due to the fact that they do not have lights at their new facility yet. Please help pass the word. Thank you. Mr. Nepodal

Just a reminder that our homecoming football game this Friday starts at 5:00 - NOT the traditional 6:00. We changed the time to help accommodate the distance/travel for our opponent from Woonsocket/Sanborn Central/Wessington Springs. Coronation is being rescheduled to Wednesday night, October 4, 8:15 pm, in the high school auditorium. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we could not be certain that power will be restored in time to hold it in the auditorium tonight. Thank you.

Mrs. Smith has chosen Ms. Cupp as this week’s Lead-Deadwood Elementary Shining Light recipient. “Ms. Cupp is dedicated to the teaching profession. She spends countless hours organizing and planning for her class. She is a wonderful role model for her students and fellow teachers. Thank you for all you to do shine a light for others!”

Congratulations to our Golddiggers Boys Golf Team!! They finished 5th as a team at the Region 4A Golf Meet and are sending three golfers to the State Golf Tournament! Qualifying by score for the State Golf Tournament are Cooper Hansen (13th), Ethan Finn (18th), and Christian Johnston (20th). The State Golf Tournament will be held at Hart Ranch Golf Course (Rapid City) on October 2nd and 3rd. Good Luck at the State Golf Tournament!! Come out and support the Diggers!

Amy Vande Velde presented this week's Lead-Deadwood Elementary Shining Light to Pam Smith. "Pam Smith is a gifted and passionate teacher that cares deeply for all her students. She has helped so many students gain confidence, success, and finding love for math over the years. I feel honored to have her as a colleague and friend. "

Our middle school volleyball game with Hill City set for this afternoon has been cancelled due some issues in the Hill City school district with transportation. They will not be able to make so we are cancelling the game. If it gets rescheduled, I will let everyone know. Thank you. Mr. Nepodal
